The Research Division of the Institute of Mental Health has been established with an Institutional Block Grant (IBG) from National Medical Research Council (NMRC). With the restructuring of IMH in Oct 2000, there was a systematic change in the emphasis on research, where previously, it was done ad hoc without any tangible support. IBG is successfully secured annually which enables Research Division to lay the foundation of the research infrastructure, kick-start research and also to continue sustaining our efforts. The Division was incepted in year 2000 and since the successful foundation of an infrastructure; research has been an important core activity at IMH.
The Division started with an infrastructure of 7 staff and currently we have 17 staff consisting of administration, research fellow, co-ordinators and assistants. We believe in creating and sustaining a thriving research culture which brings scientifically and clinically relevant research that meets high scientific and ethical standards. All our research is carried out across all disciplines.
